| Oral contact with a new piercing or handling with dirty hands can cause infection and should be avoided. While genital piercings do not prohibit sex during the healing process, in the interests of good hygiene, it is a good idea to use a condom or other barrier to minimize infection. A new piercing should not be subjected to heavy abuse during the healing process. If a local infection should occur (indicated by intense swelling, rash, green or brown puss), try immediate first aid. If the condition persists contact your piercer and/or see your doctor. UPPER AND MID-BODY PIERCINGS Ears, Septum, Nosrtils, Eyebrows, Nipples and Navels Clean piercing and jewelry two to three times a day with Saline solution ( nasal saline or pure saline) Do not use contact lens solution. It contains additives not good for your piercing. Do not twist, turn or rotate your jewelry. This is not required and will lengthen your healing time. Use Q-Tips to apply. NEVER TOUCH YOUR PIERCING WITH YOUR BARE HANDS! ORAL PIERCINGS Tongues, Lips and Cheeks Swelling may occur for 24-48 hours. Ice and anti-inflammatories such as Motrin for a week. For tattoos in areas where there is contact with your clothing, apply your ointment and wrap with a sheet of plastic wrap. NEVER USE PETROLIUM JELLY, PREPERATION H OR ANY OTHER SUCH OINTMENTS ON YOUR TATTOO. After 1 week switch to an unscented hand lotion. Try to keep your new tattoo exposed to the air as much as possible. Showers are OK, but do not soak your tattoo in water. No swimming, sunbathing or soaking of any kind for 2 weeks.
